Eileen Altmiller, longtime resident of the City of Buda, has served on
the Buda City Council since 2012. Ms. Altmiller has an undergraduate
degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Library Science from the
University of Texas at Austin. She worked at St. Edward’s University for
32 years as a librarian, Library Director and university Director of
Faculty Grants supervising coworkers while managing budgets and
technology. She was chair of the State of Texas Telecommunications
Infrastructure Fund Board Library Advisory Subcommittee and also served
on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s TexShare Advisory
Board. She continues on the Board of Directors for CTLS, Inc.
Locally, she has served in many volunteer positions over the past 24 years - Buda Public Library board member, treasurer and occasional grant writer, City of Buda Parks Commissioner 2003-2009, Friends of the Buda Library Board member and President, founding member and President of the Old Town Buda Neighborhood Association, and member of the City of Buda 2010-2011 Comprehensive Plan Committee. She also spearheaded a Neighborhood Watch for her neighborhood and served as treasurer of the Buda Elementary PTO and Hays Youth Soccer Association.
Eileen first became really involved with the City of Buda when her neighborhood experienced drainage problems. “For 10 years, I learned a lot about city government by attending City Council, Historic Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, and meeting individually with city staff. “ Currently she serves as a member of the City of Buda’s IT Committee, Dupre Local Government Corporation and Reinvestment Zone No. 1, and the City of Buda Downtown Plan Committee.
Regionally, she represents cities under 25,000 on the Executive Committee of CAPCOG (Capitol Area Council of Governments), and also serves on the Hays Caldwell Public Utility Agency (HCPUA) which is concerned with ensuring access to water for the fast growing communities of Buda, Kyle, San Marcos and the Canyon Regional Water Authority.
She lives with her husband, Henry, in the Old Town Buda neighborhood.
