Bobby Lane, Place 6 (Mayor Pro Tem)

It is an honor to serve the citizens of Buda, Texas. With the exception of a small five month break, I have served as your Council Member since May of 2000. I have also served as your Mayor Pro-tem, Mayor, Council Member Place 6 and once again as your Mayor Pro-tem. These years of service spanned the time when Buda was a general law city and since late 2007 has operated as a home rule city.

My goals have been and continue to be to ensure that you have safe and adequate supplies of drinking water, efficient and effective waste water treatment facilities, trustworthy law enforcement support and sound decision making by city management and staff.

My family and I moved from Pflugerville, Texas to Buda in 1995. I had the opportunity to become involved with the Buda Volunteer Fire Department. This gave me an opportunity to become familiar with Buda and its governance structure. I also had the opportunities to serve in the former Pflugerville Volunteer Fire Department as well as the City of Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments.

My work experience includes almost ten years with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) varying roles with Office of Inspector General as Manager of the Contract Audit, Office of Communications and Governmental Affairs and other audit positions. Other HHSC duties have included serving in the HHSC Program Management Office and the HHSC Center for Strategic Decision Support.

Prior to the transfer to HHSC, I had approximately 22 ½ years with the former Texas Department of Health in various roles. I served in the Office of Business Improvement, the Information Technology - Quality Assurance Division, the Internal Audit Division in various auditor roles and the Professional Licensing and Certification Division as Assistant Director for Operations.

I also have prior service with the Texas Department of Public Safety as an evaluator in the former Safety Responsibility Bureau and as an accounting clerk in the Accounting Office. I was fortunate to have been allowed to work part time while attending classes at the University of Texas at Austin from which I received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

We have seen tremendous growth in our metropolitan area. However, I am grateful to be part of former and current city councils that have taken proactive steps to manage growth, plan for the future and ensure that the City of Buda keeps its small town atmosphere. Every day is a learning experience and it takes all of us working together to achieve great things. Thank you for allowing me to serve on your behalf.
