Trails of Lights FAQ
Acceptable VehiclesEnclosed, street-legal vehicles.
Passenger vehicles only with a seat and seatbelt for each passenger – this means no box trucks, motorhomes, no riding in the bed of pickup trucks, no trailer rides or trailers.
Due to COVID-19 prevention policies, no open-air vehicles may enter the Trail of Lights. This includes bicycles, motorcycles, pedicabs, trailers, golf carts, horse and carriage, scooters, etc. For safety, all doors/roofs/trunks must remain closed at all times.
No walking or long-distance experiences will occur outside of your vehicle. Accessible restrooms are available in the vehicle arrival queue area.
Arrival Details and Directions
The 2020 Buda Trail of Lights is a drive-thru experience ONLY. Access to the Trail of Lights is available via westbound, Main St. There are no alternate routes to the Trail of Lights. Please anticipate traffic. Upon completion of the Trail, all vehicles will exit and be routed to the traffic light on E. Loop Street.
The Trail will be accessible each night from 6 PM -10 PM.
The City of Buda has taken many precautions to ensure the safety of all attendees and staff.
We ask that all attendees support these efforts:
- Attendees must remain in their vehicles at all times.
- Please wear a mask when interacting with staff, or if you need to use the restroom in the arrival queue area.
- Be well – if you do not feel well, or are considered high-risk, please stay home.
- Please do not attend the event if you or a member of your group has experienced the following: Within the prior 14 days, they have tested positive for, or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for, COVID-19; Within the prior 48 hours, they have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., a fever of 100.4⁰F or higher, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking, muscle pain/aches, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19 identified by the CDC); Within the prior 14 days, they have travelled to any state or international territory identified by federal or applicable local governments as being subject to travel or quarantine advisories due to COVID-19.
- Please note: According to the CDC, older adults, and people of any age with serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk of death or severe illness from COVID-19. All guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend.
BicyclesBicycles are not permitted on the Trail of Lights path. All visitors must arrive, remain, and exit by vehicle only.
Personal cameras and devices are permitted; however, guests must remain in their vehicle at all times. Stopping along the Trail and/or exiting the vehicle is prohibited.
Cameras and Photo Policy
If you plan to caravan with COVID-safe friends or family, please coordinate your arrival prior to accessing the arrival queue and entrance into the Buda Trail of Lights. There will not be a place to gather vehicles at Stagecoach Park.
In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, concessions will not be available for this year’s event. Feel free to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy in your vehicle!

Please drive slowly and with caution. Do not tailgate the vehicle in front of you. Keep a safe distance, as cars may stop suddenly. Be alert of slow or stopped vehicles. Dimming of lights is optional, but encouraged. Please remember to turn on your lights as you exit the

Location: Stagecoach Park (880 Main Street) - Buda, Texas
Upon completion of the drive-thru experience, all vehicles will be routed to the traffic light on E. Loop St. and Main St. Remember to turn on your headlights!
Exiting the Trail
ExperienceAs with all City events in 2020, things will look a little different this year. In an effort to limit the gathering of large crowds and to keep our staff safe, we are hosting a drive-thru experience for this year’s Trail of Lights! You will get to experience all the fun displays and lights from the safety of your vehicle. THIS IS A FREE EVENT.
Face coverings that completely cover your mouth and nose are required if you need to use the restroom and/or while interacting with any staff.
Concealed handguns prohibited. “Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter into this property with a concealed handgun.”
Openly Carried handgun is prohibited. “Pursuant to Section 30.07, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.”
Golf carts, ATVs, and similar power vehicles are not permitted on the Buda Trail of Lights path. All visitors must arrive, remain, and exit by enclosed, street-legal vehicles only.
Golf Carts and ATVs
You should NOT come to the Buda Trail of Lights if you or a member of your group have experienced any of the following:
Health and Safety
Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days; Have reason to believe you have COVID-19; Have reasonable to believe that you've been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days; Have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days; Have taken any medication to reduce a fever within the last 2 days; Are currently experiencing, or have experienced in the last 14 days, COVID-19 symptoms (a cough, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, unexplained headache, body aches or pains, diarrhea, or other symptoms of illness, or have otherwise felt unwell in the last 24 hours); Have traveled internationally in the last 14 days; Have had close contact with someone who has traveled internationally in the last 14 days; Have COVID-19, are experiencing or have within the last 48 hours experienced symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or know you've been exposed to COVID-19.
Those that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 should exercise extra caution.
The route begins on Hawk Lane at the entrance to Stagecoach Park & Visitor’s Center and winds its way around to Loop Street where motorists will exit back on to Main St. Keep in mind that this is the traffic flow map and not the display map. Displays may not line the entire route. To ensure safe entry into the park, traffic will only be allowed to enter from the westbound lanes of Main St.
Eastbound traffic will NOT have a turning lane into the park. The Buda Police Department will be on hand to direct traffic.
By attending the Buda Trail of Lights, you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur.
Notice of Film and Photography
By agreeing to these terms, you consent to your image and likeness captured via photography, audio recording, video recording and its release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by the Trail of Lights, City of Buda, and its representatives. You release the Trail of Lights, its employees, and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, or publication and use of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or or audio recordings, and you waive all rights to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use of these materials. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by the Buda Trail of Lights or the person or entity designated to do so.
ParkingThere is no stopping or parking at the Buda Trail of Lights. The 2020 Trail is a 100% drive-thru experience.
Park ClosuresStagecoach Park will be closed to vehicular traffic November 4th- mid-January.
PetsYour fur family can join inside your vehicle and MUST REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE, leashed, and always attended. Exiting your vehicle for pet relief is strictly prohibited.
There is one specific driving route that MUST be followed to properly access the Trail of Lights. You will not be able to access the Trail of Lights any other way.
Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted.
Face coverings are required upon any interaction with staff or other guests.
All guests must always remain fastened inside the vehicle while viewing the Trail.
Weapons of any kind
Remote controlled aircrafts and drones
Fireworks and all explosives
Illegal substances of any kind
Unauthorized/unlicensed vendors are prohibited.
Rain and Weather Policy The Buda Trail of Lights is not a rain or shine event. City Staff reserves the right to cancel any portion of the event if health and/or safety becomes a concern. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
ADA restrooms will be available near the vehicle arrival queue. Otherwise, all attendees must remain inside the vehicle. Please wear a mask while using the accommodations. Restrooms are not accessible along the Trail.
