After a big event like Red, White & Buda, we expect to see some trash left behind. Our Parks and Recreation employees work hard to keep our parks clean. This year some volunteers helped them get City Park back in shape.
“This is our second year that we’re out here in Buda City Park. “
With trash bags in hand, Juanita Clark and her Fit4MOM crew tackled the trash left behind at City Park.
“We try to do as much as we can for the community and this specific clean-up is big because we work out at this park,” said Juanita Clark.
“They’ve actually become stewards in the park and that’s awesome that we have those people in the community that really assist us,” said Parks Supervisor Juan Mosqueda.
Parks Supervisor Juan Mosqueda, along with park employees, spent the day getting things back in order.
“We're going to be testing the irrigation again and treating for fire ants one more time. All the sugar and debris from the food and stuff attracts ants. We want the park to be safe and looking good for the city,” said Mosqueda.
And so does Juanita and her FIT4Mom crew.
“Over the weekend when we come back on a Monday morning it can be pretty crazy. Sometimes there’s dangerous things out there too, like glass bottles and stuff," said Clark.
With 18 parks and 300 plus acres to maintain, our parks employees have a big job.
“We should be grateful for all the different parks that we have. So many different types of locations out there and they’re so big and grand,” said Clark.
And for many of you, keeping our parks clean is a year-round job and we appreciate it!
“They’re really good folks, good stewards and they bring their own trash bags and pick things up. They recognize the guys in the brown shirts. We give kudos to all those folks that help us pick up the trash and keep Buda clean, because we couldn’t do it without them,” said Mosqueda.
Thanks to our Fit4Mom crew and all of you in the community who keep Buda looking Buda-ful.
By the way, July is National Park and Recreation month. So it’s a great time to enjoy one of our many parks.
