The Hays County and City of San Marcos joint emergency operations center is now fully activated and will be staffed 24/7 until further notice.
Over Friday night and through early Saturday morning, sporadic heavy rains were reported and several low water crossings are closed throughout the county. No unusual events have occurred and no shelters are open at this time. Officials anticipate that higher winds and heavier rains will occur by Saturday afternoon, August 26.
To serve areas that could become isolated due to high water that closes roads in low-lying areas of the county, ambulances and Sheriff’s Office deputies have been stationed in those areas to respond as needed and aid stations are available in those areas.
Residents and visitors are cautioned to be aware of flying debris as winds are expected to increase, and to watch for debris and high standing water that will continue to impact roadways. Downed power lines should be avoided as they may be active even if down. Call 9-1-1 to report downed power lines.
