Department History
The City of Buda Police Department was founded on October 20, 2010 to provide an increased level of crime prevention and public service to the Citizens of Buda.  Bo Kidd, a former Captain with the Hays County Sherriff’s Office, was selected as  Buda's first Chief of Police. Chief Kidd along with ten other officers and support personnel began operations as one of the newest police departments in the State of Texas.  The department’s initial staff consisted of one chief, one detective, one traffic officer, six patrol officers, one administrative manager, and one animal control officer, all of whom had previous law enforcement experience serving in the Buda area.  The Buda Police Department takes pride in their continued service to the Citizens of Buda.
