Engineering & Capital Improvements
Responsibilities
The Engineering and Capital Improvements Division is responsible for:
- Planning, designing, and managing construction projects for city roads, infrastructure, and facilities
- Administering major maintenance programs for roadways, bridges, and sidewalks
- Maintaining and improves the transportation system for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods, and services, including traffic engineering
- Issuing permits for work within city right of way
- Regulating developments for stormwater runoff
- Administering regulations to manage development in the floodplains
The division serves as the primary coordinating point for infrastructure projects involving other agencies, such as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Hays County. It works closely with
Planning and Zoning to link capital improvements with the various long range plans of the city.
