Buda Lions Club Country Fair & Wiener Dog Races – April 24 & 25, 2010 – Buda City Park
This annual country fair has become an extremely popular spring event, which begins with Pet Parade, followed by the now nationally known Wiener Dog Races. There will be qualifying races on Saturday and Sunday, culminating in the run for the roses Sunday afternoon. Participants come from all over the country for this exciting event. Once again, the Lions will sponsor a BBQ Cook-off and Tolbert sanctioned Chili Cook-off on Saturday. The Chili Cookers compete for points that qualify them for the world famous Terlingua International Chili Championship. There is live entertainment throughout the weekend, along with food, arts, & craft vendors.
Red, White n Buda – July 4, 2010 – City Park
A celebration of patriotism observed across the USA and held in Downtown Buda, this celebration includes a fireworks display at dark and live music.
Parish Festival – September 26, 2010 – Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Buda
Parish Festival is a benefit for the continued construction of the new Santa Cruz Church in Buda. The weekend festivities feature live music, arts and crafts vendors, a washer tournament, watermelon eating contest, El Grito and Jalapeno eating contest, the annual Texas Hold’em tournament, games, carnival rides, food, and a raffle.
Texas Firefighter Festival – October 2010
Join us as we honor Texas firefighters with events including Firefighter Challenges, Kids Firefighter Challenge, BBQ Cook-Off and a Texas Music Festival. This event is a time- honored tradition, honoring firefighters in Central Texas for over 51 years, and with more than 10,000 Texans attend annually to honor our Texas heroes.
Fine Arts Festival – October 2 & 3, 2010 – Downtown Buda
The Buda Fine Arts Festival (BFAF) is a juried show that features artists showcasing their work in downtown Buda “under the Big Top” (A 70’ by 150’ tent). All accepted artists also participate in “Art After Dark,” a gala event that includes an art sale, food, wine, and live music.
Boo-Da Halloween – October 28, 2010 – Downtown Buda
Downtown Buda serves as a safe and fun opportunity for children to trick-or-treat for Halloween and includes Halloween stories, crafts, games and more Halloween fun at the Buda Public Library.
Budafest – December 4 & 5, 2010 – Downtown Buda
Held the first full weekend in December, this festival is sure to put you in the holiday spirit, including a Christmas parade, entertainment, carnival, and over 125 artisans selling handcrafted items of every type – jewelry, candles, holiday decorations, salsas, woodcraft’s, pottery, and soaps – to name but a few. Children can also visit and take pictures with Santa.
