Parks Commission
- Composed of seven volunteer members serving two-year terms.
- Meets the third Wednesday of each month at City Hall.
- Oversees funds earmarked for the use of improving and developing Buda’s parks.
- Oversees Parks & Recreation master planning.
- Formulates park policy and establishes fees for City Council approval.
This is an important and exciting time for the Commission as we are currently competing for the remaining $3.5 million in parks and open space bond money approved by voters in 2007. Staff is considering submitting five Parks Grant Projects to Hays County for consideration. The proposed projects include the following:
- Creating a trail system in Bradfield Park connecting to Stagecoach Park, City Park, and downtown Buda.
- Installing lights at the four softball/baseball fields at the Sportsplex.
- Building off-leash areas at Whispering Hollow Park and Green Meadows Park.
- Constructing a skate park on City property south of the elevated water tower on FM 967/Main Street.
- Adding additional amenities at Stagecoach Park such as landscaping and fencing.
