Chris Ruiz became the Director of the Department of Finance for the City of Buda in October 2009. Mr. Ruiz oversees the daily finance and budget operations for the City of Buda. In addition, he is the Human Resources and IT Manager. He is a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Finance.
Mr. Ruiz has more than 20 years of multi-disciplinary experience in finance and accounting. Prior to joining the City Manager’s staff, he worked for the State of Texas in various capacities including the Director of Budget for the Department of State Health Services. His private industry experience includes Dell, Seton and Level(3) Communications.
A “BOI” (Born on the Island), Galveston native, Chris has lived in Central Texas since 1990. He is married and has a busy life with three young children and two Labrador Retrievers.
Mr. Ruiz is a Notary Public and a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas. He has been a private personal finance and tax advisor since 1988.
