I grew up in a small town called Southmayd, Texas located in north Texas near Sherman and graduated from Sadler and Southmayd Consolidated High School (S & S) with a class of 34 students in 1985. I attended Texas A & M University beginning in 1985 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Sciences in 1992. I like to say that I crammed four years into seven somehow! I was in the Corps of Cadets from 1985 through 1989. When I graduated from college, I became a Flight Attendant for Continental Airlines in 1993 and stopped working for the airline in 1996 to begin a full-time career in the Parks and Recreation field.
I began my career in Parks and Recreation in the summer of 1995 working the summer playground program for the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. I have worked for the cities of Arlington, Balch Springs, and Plano. For the last 12½ years, I have worked in Flower Mound starting as the Athletics Coordinator and was promoted to Recreation Manager and finally elevated to the Director of Parks and Recreation. I have been serving as director for the last 3½ years in Flower Mound (just north of the DFW airport next to Lewisville).
I have a 12 year old son Ryan and a golden retriever named Cosmo. I enjoy jogging, traveling, reading, and sports. I’m looking forward to getting to know the residents of Buda.
