Streets
The Buda Street Department consists of 8 full-time employees who have been employed with the city for an average of 8 years. As one of the most visible departments around town, our Street Department always has a check-list of tasks. The day-to-day projects of the Street Department are widely varied. On any given day, here are a few examples of the work assignments for this mobile crew:
- Maintenance of 34.65 miles of city streets
- Maintenance of 2,600 city signs and installing new signs when required
- Cleaning ditches
- Installing culverts
- Mowing and weed eating 70 miles of right-of-way
- Assisting in flash floods and various emergency situations
- Street sweeping
- Construction of new storm sewer projects
- Maintenance and up keep of city facilities
- Hauling tree limbs after storms
- Replacing curb and gutter
- Repairing and replacing sidewalk sections
- Painting all the pavement markings
- Maintaining flower beds and landscaping
- Helping prepare for park events
- Maintenance of 57 acres of detention ponds
