It's International Dark Sky Week! International Dark Sky Week was created by the International Dark Sky Association to raise awareness on the importance of protecting our night skies through well-designed and implemented outdoor lighting. Protecting our night skies and reducing light pollution is important because unnatural light negatively impacts wildlife and our own biological rhythms. Light glare can also cause traffic accidents and other issues.
Did you know that the City of Buda is seeking certification as a Dark Sky Community through the International Dark Sky Association? You can help by installing dark sky friendly outdoor lighting that uses warmer yellow, orange, or amber hues of light, light that is fully shielded and downward facing, and lighting that uses timers or is turned off when not needed.
